Bride and Groom - Lauren and Paco

From Puerto Rico and Texas

Wedding Location

Canons Ceremony- Lol-Ha Restaurant for reception, Akumal

Wedding Description

With almost 1 year out Paco & Lauren set out to plan their Mexican Wedding-they were planning a move plus Paco going back to Chef School, so with one week to spare they came down for a scouting trip and fell in love with Akumal. Lauren was ready and organized with visuals of details she wanted to incorporate- she wanted cobalt blue accents to be the focal point of their reception and bright colors for the ceremony.

Pacos Family is catholic so there were actually 2 weddings! One in Playa del Carmens Nuestra Sra. Del Carmen Church and another ceremony in Akumal were all their guests attended which combined some Mexican traditions like the lasso and family members joined in for readings. Arpason a duet of harp and violin welcomed their guests and harmonized throughout the ceremony- After they sealed their vows with a kiss the Mariachi Band escorted the guests down to the beach in front of the Lol-ha restaurant for appetizers, photos and cocktails at an incredibly chic lounge setting.

A traditional guest book would not work for this couple and they brought a Chefs coat for all their guests to sign and take back home to frame as memory from their wedding.

Walking in towards the Lol-Ha restaurant blue lights covered the veranda and cobalt blue vases held bright bouquet of roses in bright & different colors. Each table was named after a local cocktail and for toasting guests cheered while sipping Mojitos, Margaritas, Pina Coladas and many other tropical drinks- definitely another choice for this non-traditional couple.

With guests traveling from Puerto Rico it was a given that they needed to have a live band to honor Pacos heritage of love for Merengue and Salsa. Both clients are devoted chefs and love what they do, they meticulously picked their meal and to give back some of their own personal flavor each guest received a blue book with the top 10 recipes from their families- with photos and full recipe descriptions!!

Lauren is a pastry chef, she loves sweets and for this we planned for an apothecary sweets table with gummies, hard candies and sticks. Not only this for guests to take home for later, but Mexican wedding cookies were trayed and passed around as well as a 4 tiered dark chocolate coconut cake- the topper was a the final touch of their individualism- day of the dead groom and bride!!

In the bride's own words.....

Dear Gina,

Thank you for coordinating a beautiful wedding for my daughter and fiancee at Lol Ha in Akumal in January 2010. It was amazing and your attention to every detail was outstanding. We also thank Laura and her staff at Lol Ha for the excellent service and the delicious menu that impressed all of our discriminating guests. Everything was just perfect and we are so glad that Akumal was the venue. You all truly made our destination wedding a dream come true.
